Staff1
Board Member Ed Mikel, Antioch University Seattle
with Founder and Managing Director, Jon Garfunkel

STAFF

Jonathan Garfunkel, MA Ed., Founder and Managing Director

Jon has been working across the landscape of K-12 education since 1989. Half of that time has been spent teaching in secondary and higher education, and the other half designing and facilitating innovative educational programs, developing curriculum, and consulting with K-12 schools and learning organizations. He enjoys exploring the boundaries of local and global education and building bridges between classrooms and communities. Jon is a recipient of the Human Rights Day Award from the Seattle Chapter of the United Nations Association for his work with Tibet Education Network. This groundbreaking project was the origin of Global Source. Since 2003, Jon has also been teaching at the Center for Programs in Education, Antioch University Seattle.

Mike DiBernardo, Office Manager

Mike has helped run the office as well as provided program assistance for Global Source since 2005. He recently earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington, looks forward to attending graduate school and continuing to help Global Source and the EduCulture Project with exciting future programs and projects.

Katy Curtis, Program Co-Director, Only What We Can Carry Project

Katy enjoys creating ways for people to learn from understanding each others' world views.  Throughout her career, Katy’s focus has been building respectful working relationships. Katy is curious about the stories people have about the cultures they belong to, about their experiences of inclusion and exclusion. Since 2007, she has served as Education Outreach Coordinator at the Bainbridge Island Historical Museum. For many years she has been a facilitator for professional development programs, working in learning organizations, and consulting in non-profits and small businesses. Katy studied mediation and earned her certification in 1999. Soon thereafter, she founded Medate2Peace and began helping people resolve conflict as a mediator and consultant.
